The Carbon nanotubes are nothing but the vast molecules of pure carbon that are long and thin and shaped like tubes, near about 1-3 nanometers (1 nm = 1 billionth of a meter) in diameter, and hundreds to thousands of nanometers long. It is a carbon atom single layered cylindrical ring which resembled the tube; hence it is called as carbon nanotubes. A carbon nanotube is a tube-shaped element, made of carbon, having a diameter measuring on the nanometer scale.
